Classes set to Resume at Istrouma High School and
EBR Lab Academy Thursday, November 18
Baton Rouge, LA – Following an electrical fire on the campus of Istrouma High School late last night, November 16, workers were able to restore power to most of the campus so classes can resume tomorrow, Thursday, November 18, for all students and faculty. The main building was brought on-line at 2:20 p.m. this afternoon. Electrical power still is not available to the ancillary buildings.
At about 10 p.m. last night, an underground electrical fire on the grounds of Istrouma High School caused the school to lose power. The fire, located in the outside quad between the cafeteria and the main building, involved the primary electrical wires leading to the main circuit breaker to the school.
Work will continue at the school until a permanent solution is found for the electrical problems.
BATON ROUGE, La. (WVLA) East Baton Rouge Parish School Board officials say a small electrical fire knocked out power at Istrouma High Tuesday night.
Classes have been cancelled at the high school and the EBR lab academy until the problem is fixed. This marks the 2nd time this week a power outage has kept kids from hitting the books.
Officials say an automated call was placed to the homes of students from Istrouma and EBR Lab Academy after the incident.
