GONZALES, La (ASCENSION PARISH PRESIDENT'S OFFICE)- Representatives from the Office of Community Development's Disaster Recovery Unit presented Ascension Parish Government with a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to be used towards the purchase of Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.
The check was worth $4,690,700 and was presented during the Oct. 21 parish council meeting.
According to Parish Grants Officer Martha Collins, this is the first of 12 projects to be funded through this funding agency.
Ascension Parish purchased the Expo Center last year. It was branded a risky move at the time, but officials say it has generated $1 million dollars in profit.
