LSU now has the top-ranked baseball team in the nation according to every major poll.
The Tigers have been elevated from number two to number one by Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers. Texas A&M and North Carolina used to hold the top spots in those polls, respectively.
Paul Mainieri’s ballclub climbed to number one following a mid-week win over Southern and a three-game weekend sweep of Central Florida.
LSU also retained its top ranking from Collegiate Baseball magazine and the ESPN/USA Today coaches’ poll.
We also have a couple of baseball schedule changes to pass along.
LSU's game against Mississippi Valley State on Wednesday has been moved up to five o'clock at the new Box.
Southern was supposed to play its home opener Wednesday against Southeastern, but Lee-Hines Field isn't ready, so that game will now be played in Hammond.
