BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA) -- With Halloween just days away, state police are reminding parents to review the list of registered sex offenders in their community. Troopers say they have a database set up on their website that will pinpoint exactly where an offender lives, so you can avoid that house while trick-or-treating.
Under the current state law, it is illegal for a registered sex offender to participate in that tradition. Troopers say if you become awayre of a sex offender who is attending costume parties where children are present or giving out candy, notify your local law enforcement immediately.
Check out the state police website at www.lsp.org [1] to find a sex offender near you.
