BATON ROUGE (NBC33) — UPDATE: Eric Fabre, 20, of Slidell, LA, died Thursday night from injuries sustained in a traffic crash that occurred in the 9700 block of Airline Highway at Old Hammond around 12:58 a.m.
Fabre was driving a 2013 Honda Ruckus Scooter north on Airline Hwy when a red or maroon vehicle struck him from behind.
The driver of that vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival in a northerly direction.
Fabre died at the scene.

ORIGINAL: Baton Rouge Police responded to a traffic accident on Airline Highway at Old Hammond shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20.
According to a report from BRPD, the crash involved a motorcycle.
Officers arrived on scene and found a white male unresponsive and lying in the roadway. Responders determined that the man had died.
The Traffic Homicide Division later arrived and took over the investigation
Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.
The investigation is ongoing and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
