BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA)--Funding appears to be the reason a popular block party will break tradition this Halloween.
Organizers with the Carlotta Street party say for the first time in more than 30 years they'll be hosting it on the Friday before Halloween instead of Saturday.
The decision to change the days came after a meeting with the Baton Rouge Police Department Monday morning.
BRPD has more officers available on Fridays. Security details also cost less that time of the weekend.
The North Gates Merchants Association is fronting the bill.
A Facebook invite page shows about 800 people are going to the party.
