Eunice, LA (NBC33) — John Bourque, 52, of Eunice, was arrested and charged with four counts of attempted first degree murder, aggravated arson, and criminal damage to property on Tuesday, April 29.
Shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Eunice police responded to a call about a man pouring gasoline on a house with four people inside.
The suspect set the house on fire and left the scene, but the occupants put out the flames before officers arrived.
One of the victims told police that Bourque banged on the door and claimed to be looking for his girlfriend.
When the first victim opened the door, Bourque threw gasoline on him and tried to set him on fire.
The victim pushed Bourque outside and locked the door. The victims said Bourque then set the doorway on fire and broke windows before leaving.
Officers found Bourque two blocks away and arrested him. They also located the red gasoline container and took it as evidence.
Bourque was booked into the Eunice City Jail, where he is being held on a $502,500.00 bond.
