BATON ROUGE, LA (WVLA) The LSU men's basketball team hit the hardwood for the first time as a team Friday.
Third-year head coach Trent Johnson got the drills going just after 5 PM.
Team practice was held in the brand-new practice facility for the Tigers. Coach Johnson says the new basketball gymnasium puts everything the team needs from lockers to trainers all in one building. He believes the set-up will keep his men focused all season long.
And that's important for this year's Tigers. The purple and gold are coming off a losing 2009-2010 season. The team finished with an 11-20 record.
Coach Johnson says the squad struggled in 2009 because a few key veterans were missing. He says after that year of growth, he's confident this team will be much more mature and one fun team to watch.
LSU opens its season at home against Northwestern State University Friday, November 12 at the PMAC.
