Lecompte, LA (NBC33) — Louisiana State Police arrested Lecompte Chief of Police Mikel White, 53, along with Officer Gregory Armstead, 45, on Friday morning.
The two face several felony charges following an investigation into a criminal complaint filed against White and Armstead.
The victim told LSP detectives that White and Armstead came to his home in March and threatened him with bodily harm if he didn’t pay back money he owed for a personal loan.
According to the victim, White threatened to arrest him for theft. Armstead, following White’s order, then handcuffed the victim and took him into custody.
The victim was eventually released without being charged with a crime.
Police say the entire incident was caught on camera.
After further investigation, LSP obtained an arrest warrant for Chief White and Officer Armstead.
Both were booked into the Rapides Parish Jail.
Chief White was charged with extortion, malfeasance in office, and false imprisonment.
Officer Armstead was charged with malfeasance in office and false imprisonment.
