Lafayette (NBC33) — A 20-year-old Lafayette woman was arrested on Tuesday for the death of her five-month-old daughter.
Lafayette police responded the baby’s death on January 29, 2014.
When officers arrived at the hospital, they were told the child died from accidental suffocation, which reportedly happened at the child’s home on Zim Circle.
The mother, Raven Senegal, told detectives that a plastic shopping bag had covered the child’s head.
On March 31, detectives received new information in the case and issued an arrest warrant for Senegal for first degree murder.
Senegal was arrested in Alexandria, LA, on Tuesday.
The investigation is ongoing.
