BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Dedrick Matthews, 38, was arrested after being involved in a fatal crash on the Mississippi River bridge that occurred around 2:45am Sunday. Matthews rear ended another vehicle while traveling westbound I-10 on the bridge.
Johnny Galmon, 26, and Kandace Cox, 19, were in the rear ended vehicle and both died at the scene. Two other occupants in their vehicle and one occupant from Matthews vehicle were transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Matthews was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with 2 counts of Vehicular Homicide, 3 counts of Vehicular Negligent Injuring, Reckless Operation, Careless Operation and DWI 2nd Offense.
