BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Kyle Maynard might have been born with only part of his arms and legs, but that's not stopping him from doing some amazing things.
The 28-year old has played football, set records in weightlifting, martial arts, and wrestling. He was also the first man to crawl on his own to the top of Mount Kilmanjaro. He made his way to the capital city Thursday to speak at a "Power of Hope" event.
Hope ministries is a group that helps people learn how to get out of poverty. He says the key to reaching your goals is not doubting yourself.
"If you want something in your life, just figuring out, 'how do we make it happen?' Anybody that's in this room, that's watching this is infinitely powerful in terms of when they commit to something, and when they dedicate themselves to something, move forward with it," said Kyle. "...And not going down the path of seeing themselves as a victim
The best-selling author has been on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, and many other national shows and publications. He lives in California and owns a gym called "No Excuses Cross Fit."
