WALKER, La (WVLA) -- An alleged sexual predator is behind bars today after police say he drove from Missouri to Louisiana to meet with a 15-year-old girl he met over the Internet. Police say law enforcement officials posed as girls ranging in age from 14 to 16 and then spent time "chatting" online in hopes of catching sexual predators.
They say 26-year-old Ryan Michael Sims took the bait and arranged to meet with one of the "girls" in Walker. When he arrived at the planned meeting spot, authorities arrested him without incident. Sims later told officers that he left his home in Texas after arranging to meet a young girl in Missouri.
Sims is charged with one count of computer-aided solicitation for sexual purposes, but authorities say other charges are possible. He is booked in the Livingston Parish Detention Center with a bond set at $50,000.
