BATON ROUGE (NBC33) — It's known for its amazing costumes, music, and of course the acrobatics. Cirque du Soliel is in Baton Rouge this week.
It’s simply a magical journey.
“It makes them feel something, like they are leaving their problems outside the door and entering this dream like fantasy world," said Varekai staff, Vanessa Napoli.
This show that travels on tour for months is now enchanting us here in the Capitol City.
“It's a story that Cirque du Soliel’s interpretation of what happened to Ikurus after he looses his wings so it’s noting back to Greek mythology."
It takes 19 semi trucks, 100 people, 50 performers from 50 different nationalities and 500 costumes to make up the show Varekai.
“In Varakai they have such good music such good acting,” said performer Anastaysia Mellynchenko. “I hope our audience will love everything."
The performers have worked hard to be in the show and say it’s amazing.
"I like it very much,” noted Mellynchenko. ”It’s like new life."
But they also say it can be difficult always traveling.
“It’s fun but every weekend we have to pack up the luggage its boring."
After 16 hours of set up and excess preparation, practice and perfection, they finally are ready.
"It's takes a lot of work and a good strong team.”
For just a few days Varekai is ready to take over the River Center.
“It really is like your living an experience."
