BATON ROUGE (NBC33) — The victim who notified LSU Police that someone tried to abduct her on the LSU Campus last night has admitted to Investigators that she made up the story and the incident did not happen.
Leila Marlene Wolfe, age 22, of Denham Springs, was arrested for Criminal Mischief. Wolfe was issued a Misdemeanor Summons and released.
On Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, just before 7:30 p.m., Wolfe arrived at the LSU Police Department and reported that she had been the victim of an attempted abduction on the LSU Campus in the parking lot south of Nicholson Extension.
She told officers that the suspect had approached her and grabbed her by the arm. She also said she was able to break away and run from the area.
She provided a detailed description of the suspect and suspect vehicle. The LSU Community was notified of the incident by a text message sent through the LSU Emergency Text Messaging system.
Through the investigation many of the events Wolfe provided to investigators were unable to be verified. Upon further speaking with Wolfe on Feb. 21, 2014, in an effort to clarify events, investigators uncovered additional inconsistencies in information she provided.
During this time Wolfe eventually admitted to investigators that she had made up the incident and it had not occurred.
