NEW ORLEANS (NBC33) — UPDATE: Police have located the vehicle and have arrested the suspect involved in a hit-and-run that killed a 6-year-old bow.
ORIGINAL: A 6-year-old boy was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Monday Morning.
The incident happened around 7:00 a.m., at the intersection of Paris Avenue and Lafreniere Street.
According to New Orleans Police, the 6-year-old boy and his 9-year-old sister, along with two other children, were crossing Paris Avenue in the crosswalk when the driver struck both children and fled the scene Northbound on Paris Avenue.
The boy died at the hospital and the girl had non-life threatening injuries. The other two children were not struck or injured in the incident
Detectives found parts of the suspect’s car, a gray Honda Crosstour, on the scene. The front of the vehicle received damage and Detectives are investigating to determine the registered owner and driver of the vehicle.
Detectives are searching the area for surveillance video footage that may have captured the incident and are asking residents that live in the area to check their surveillance system to see if it may have captured the incident or the suspect’s vehicle.
The incident remains under investigation.
