BATON ROUGE, La. (NBC33) — Another hard freeze is forecast in south Louisiana Thursday morning. Hard Freeze Warnings stretch from east Texas into areas of Mississippi and Alabama.
Temperatures will drop below freezing around 6:00 p.m. tonight, then continue to fall into the mid to lower-20s Thursday morning.
Side note: Tomorrow's freeze will be the 15th day that January 2014 has seen lows at or below 32º! Averaging the entire month's lows, from January 1-28th, Baton Rouge recorded 32.7º; Normal lows should read in the lower-40s this time of year.
Adding wind to the cold weather, our feels-like temperatures will drop into the teens. It will be important to bundle up, if you have plans on venturing outdoors Thursday morning.
Sunshine and a southeastern shift in winds will help to warm us up through the day. Temperatures rise above freezing by mid-morning, with highs hitting the low to mid-50s around 2:00 p.m. As the sun sets tomorrow, our thermometers will read in the upper-40s, then steadily fall into the lower-40s Friday morning.
A warming trend continues through the rest of the week and into the weekend. However, thunderstorms are forecast to arrive on Sunday.
