BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Some employees of Jetson Center for Youth learned they’ll soon be out of the job. The news comes after troubled teens were secretly moved out of the Jetson Center for Youth in the middle of the night Sunday.
A Jerel Giarrusso, spokeswoman for the Office of Juvenile Justice, said 21 Jetson employees received notice of "impending layoffs" on Monday.
Thirteen of those employees were educators.
Officials say the employees should get a notice soon, letting them know when they'll be laid off.
Giarrusso said the employees will get two to four weeks of pay.
Ten probationary employees were let go Sunday.
The move comes after the OJJ re-located all residents of Jetson Sunday.
The remaining 123 employees will attend meetings either Thursday or Friday.
Officials say they'll be given the option to transfer to another OJJ facility.
