The results of yesterday's election are in. Republican Jay Dardenne and Democrat Caroline Fayard will go head to head in next month's Lieutenant Governor runoff on November 2nd. Secretary of State Dardenne won the top spot with 28% of the statewide vote, while New Orleans Attorney Fayard came in a close second with 24% of the vote.
The winner of the November 2nd runoff will take over the Lieutenant Governor's seat vacated by current Mayor of New Orleans Mitch Landrieu. The newly elected official will serve a one year term, which is the residual time remaining from Landrieu's incomplete four year term of office.
