FRENCH SETTLEMENT, LA (NBC33) — UPDATE: The French Settlement Water Company lifted the boil advisory just after 9:45 Saturday night.
The water company said in a statement Saturday night, "All investigative samples were negative. Therefore, this precautionary boil advisory has been rescinded."
The corporate limits of French Settlement, Livingston Parish, experienced a break in the main water line on Hwy. 16 with low pressure experienced by a portion of Hwy. 16 and Hwy. 444 residents.
The French Settlment Water Company says it hopes to have the line repaired and water back on by 6:00 pm; however, once water service is restored, a precautionary boil water advisory will be in place for the affected residents only.
The company will pull an investigative sample on Saturday morning and if negative the advisory will automatically be lifted around noon Sunday unless further notified.
