Walker (NBC33) — Walker Police arrested Eddie Robert Island, 17, of Walker, as the suspect for the murder of his mother, Tamila Wooley, 34.
A family acquaintance notified authorities that he had found Wooley’s body on New Year’s Day at about 12:15 p.m.
Wooley appeared to have been dead for a bout two days.
Officers learned that Wooley’s son, Eddie Island, was missing as well as her car.
Two other minor children, an 11-year-old boy and 2-year-old girl, we found in the residence unharmed.
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Jan. 2, deputies located Wooley’s vehicle north of Walker.
Officers stopped the car and identified Island as the driver.
Island was taken into custody, where he confessed to shooting his mother either on the night of Sunday, Dec. 29, or the morning of Dec. 30.
Island was then transported to the Livingston Parish Detention Center and charged with Second Degree Murder.
Investigators believe that over the two day period between the murder and the discovery of the body, Island returned to the home to check on the other two children and attend to them.
Island is apparently their half brother, and he said he returned to feed them. He told them that their mother was ill and not to disturb her.
The children are in protective custody until relatives arrive from out of state.
Island is being held without bond.
