WESTLAKE, LA (NBC33) — KPLC is reporting a fire at the Axiall plant in Westlake, LA that started around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20.
The shelter in place has been lifted for all areas.
No injuries have been reported, and the fire may be contained.
Interstate 10 was closed in both directions, but is now open.
Crews are conducting tests for air quality and any chemical release.
The "all clear" has not yet been given.
This fire happened just a day after Governor Jindal and Axiall's CEO announced that Louisiana has been selected for a potential $3 billion investment in chemical facilities.
