BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Louisiana Naval War Memorial Commission is pleased to announce Ms. Alejandra “Alex” Juan as the new Executive Director of the USS KIDD Veterans Memorial & Museum.
Alex will follow Maury Drummond’s twenty-two year legacy of leadership and dedication.
“Alex’s experience in the military and in the philanthropic sector will serve the KIDD well as we look to expand our services,” said Joe Jenkins, Louisiana Naval War Memorial Commission Chairman. “Her passion, transformational leadership style and dedication will help take the KIDD to the next level.”
Upon accepting the position, Ms. Juan noted, “We have an incredible team here at the KIDD and we will be working together to expand our educational outreach programs and to increase the public’s understanding of the historical significance of the events that we host throughout the year. I am looking forward to building on the great foundation that has been developed here over the last few decades.”
“We are collectively elated about the new energy, new ideas, and new skills that Alex brings to the USS KIDD,” said Louisiana Naval War Memorial Commissioner Dan Mobley.
Ms. Juan received her degree in Organizational Communication from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Alex was also an honor graduate at the Defense Information School’s Public Affairs Officer Course. She was a member of the Louisiana Air National Guard’s 159th Fighter Wing where she held the rank of Captain and was a Public Affairs Officer.
She met her husband, Craig, in the Louisiana National Guard and they have two sons, Nick and Noah.
A passionate community volunteer, Ms. Juan is a volunteer hospital advocate for Sexual Trauma Response and Awareness Center in Baton Rouge. Alex also volunteers her time with several animal rescues and feed the needy ministries. She is a member of the National Guard Association of the United States and Women Veterans of Louisiana.
