BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Founders of the Louisiana Marathon hosted a meet and greet in Baton Rouge Tuesday. Registration is underway for the three day festival January 17-19, 2014. They're expecting about 24 thousand people this year. If you go, you can qualify for other races such as the Boston Marathon. Organizers say they hope this will make Louisiana the 'running capital of the south.'
Danny Bourgeois, Louisiana Marathon Marketing Director and Co-Founder says, "We have a goal of hitting all fifty states this year. The last two years we've had forty-seven states and eleven countries. [We] live up to our motto, which is run, eat, dance, laugh. The love what makes Louisiana special, which is music, food, and art. They'll also love to run too, [and] in turn, be healthier.
If you're not quite ready to run 26.2 miles, there will be shorter races along with a kids' marathon, and family and finish festivals. See the list of events and how to register at www.thelouisianamarathon.com
