STORMTRACKER33 — A Hard Freeze Warning (pink) and a Light Freeze Warning (aqua) have been issued for tonight from 7pm until 9am tomorrow morning. Highs are expected to only get into the mid 40s this afternoon and drop quickly after the sun sets. Most of us will be waking up tomorrow morning in the mid to upper 20s.
A Hard Freeze Warning means temperatures in the mid 20s or lower are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation, and possibly freeze unprotected pipes. Pets are also subject to the extreme cold. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. If this is not possible, make sure outdoor pets have a warm, dry shelter, and provide sufficient food and fresh unfrozen water. Be particularly careful with portable heaters. There is a danger of fire or poisonous fumes. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor pipes, they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain their systems or cover any above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
A Light Freeze Warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. People should take measures to protect plants by covering them or bringing them inside. Also, pets should be protected or moved indoors. Be careful heating your home. Space heaters need to be kept 36 inches away from anything that can burn. Turn it off when you leave the room or go to bed.
