Sorrento, La (NBC33) — The town of Sorrento is buzzing with talk of recalls on several town leaders.
Recall paper in hand Doris Lee and Ivan Bernuchaux are leading the charge to recall Sorrento councilman Randy Anny.
"He’ll argue and go in circles and nothing gets accomplished and we all end up with just more confusion, nothing's settled, nothing's done," explained Lee of her reasoning.
The two believe that with all of the issues the town has been having with the police department, it's time to start making some changes, starting with the long-time councilman.
"Every meeting I’ve been to it turns in to an argument, nothing's accomplished, and in order to change, that has to change and I feel randy Anny is to blame for these problems," said Lee
They said they feel Anny is the root of some of the serious rifts that are dividing the town.
"He comes out of, like I say, the police side, you know you're a councilman, you should come out with your councilmen and your mayor," added Lee.
The duo needs 345 signatures to get the recall on the ballot, but they are shooting for 400, a number they feel they'll have no trouble getting.
"This is for the people of Sorrento. This is really the last chance to go ahead and make something of this town, and it can be. There’s a lot of good people in Sorrento that want change, that will fight for change and that's what I am going to do."
Attempts to contact Randy Anny for comment on Wednesday were not returned. There has also been talk of attempting to recall Sorrento Mayor Mike Lambert.
