BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A group of teachers here in Louisiana are doing what they can to help victims of the devastating typhoon that hit the Philippines. The Filipino Educators Federation of Louisiana is collecting donations to help with recovery efforts.
Some of the groups members had family members affected by the typhoon. Now they say they've got to do something to help their countrymen.
Eva Adolfo, president elect of Filipino Educators Federation of Louisiana, said, "We are here and although we have not experienced the typhoon itself, but we felt it because they are our brothers and sisters over there. Our families and relatives are there we believe our small action any little gesture that we do it can help a lot.”
Adolfo said the group will continue collecting donations through December. She said the money they raised will go to help the people on the island of Cebu.
Adolfo said if you wish to donate you can contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org
