BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Many people are watching their carbon-footprint, but what if you could help save the environment with eyeglasses?
Well, a new local eyewear shop wants to bring an eco-friendly ideal to Baton Rouge.
Smarter Eyewear uses display cases, furniture, and shelves all made of recycled wood pallets, and some of the glasses brands they carry give back to those in need.
"It kind of goes with our ‘repurposing and using’ mantra,” stated owner Johnny Cook. “We have several frame lines that (follow) that as well. There's Eco-Optics, which are made out of 95 percent recycled metals and plastics, and each time you buy one, they plant a tree.”
The shop's grand opening is this Saturday.
