BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Detectives with the delta Narcotics Task Force detained suspects Shantell Banks and Brittany Lathers yesterday, Nov. 12. After early morning surveillance, detectives detained Banks outside of her son’s daycare facility, and travelled with her back to the target residence where they found Lathers.
Upon entering the residence, detectives were overwhelmed with the strong odor of raw marijuana. Inside the residence, in plain view, detectives found several pounds of marijuana and Lortab. After searching further, they also located $1413.00 un U.S. currency, additional marijuana, and a black 9mm handgun. Banks, a convicted felon, is not permitted to own, use, keep, or maintain firearms.
Banks and Lathers were transported to headquarters for processing. Lathers’ son was left with the neighbor and subsequently picked up by Lathers’ mother. While en route to headquarters, Lathers discussed ways in which Banks should have stored and or transported the narcotics, to avoid police detection.
After processing their paperwork, Banks and Lathers were transported and booked into the EBRP Prison.
