BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Cooler weather has some people in the capital city gearing up and going to the experts on how to protect their homes.
According to shopper Tai Nguyen, he's "trying to get in and out and get out of this weather and stay warm."
Terry Fryson, department supervisor at home depot advised people to take good care of their house. "Proper maintenance of your home-make sure your chimney is sweeped out before you put a log in it. We also offer pipe insulation here, and you cover it with weather-proof duct tape."
And while protecting the outside of your home is important, management says to protect the inside too.
"Check your weather stripping along your doors. That insulates the cool air from coming out, so you want to check that to make sure its pretty tight," said Fryson.
But if you didn't have those items in your shopping cart, don't worry. You might have these items already at home.
Fryson suggested using bed sheets and towels for insulation. "You can also use caulking. Make sure your caulking is up to date."
