BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A Door of Hope opens, helps women with a variety of problems, ranging from abuse to depression
A brand new resource for women is open, thanks to the dream of a Denham Springs resident.
Kristen Maddox's faith-based, non-profit organization A Door of Hope is now open to the public.
The organization focuses on helping girls and women who struggle with struggle with abuse, eating disorders, and other types of self-injury get the help they need.
Maddox says she knows first-hand how important help can be because she once needed it herself.
"I was one of those girls. Seventeen years ago, I walked through this office, these doors, and I was strung out on crack,” stated Maddox. “So, now we're here in the very same building, the very same suite, and this is the very same counseling room that I sat in 17 years ago. We have the opportunity to offer hope to girls."
A Door of hope is located on Florida Boulevard in the Dixon Medical Offices. It's open 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 a.m. every Tuesday through Friday.
