BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Sometimes buying produce and get quite expensive, but how about growing your own?
Southern University's Ag Center hosted its Community Garden Workshop to help teach local organizations and the community the importance of growing their own produce.
The workshop provided open discussion and hands-on activities.
The project director tells us gardening doesn't just help you save money, but the people in our community.
"Community gardening serves the community - it does just that,” stated Tiffany Franklin. “We involved a host of volunteers from the area by getting them involved and teaching people how to eat healthy and grow their own goods."
The Ag Center plans on having more workshops in the near future.
