BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — It may be warm right now, but the approaching cold front will soon drop temperatures back into the forties, and that’s why Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie is stepping in to help those who need something to keep them warm.
Today, Dabadie donated several used police jackets to St. Vincent de Paul.
“As opposed to destroying the jackets – which is what we usually do - we felt that they still had some wear left in them. and we felt this would go to a good cause,” said Dabadie.
Nearly 1,000 homeless people are sleeping on the streets of Baton Rouge each night.
