KENNER, LA (WDSU) — Kenner police say a man fired a shotgun at his wife after physically assaulting her during a domestic dispute.
Police say Charles Gussett, 63, was involved in an argument with his wife of two years Friday.
During the argument, Gussett physically assaulted his wife and armed himself with a shotgun, according to police.
As his wife exited the home in the 2100 block of Iowa Avenue, Gussett followed after her and fired the shotgun at her, striking a nearby occupied residence and causing damage, police say.
Gussett then fled the area and was taken into custody Saturday after he returned home.
He was booked on charges of Attempted Manslaughter, Domestic Abuse - Battery, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property and Illegal Possession of a Firearm.
Due to two previous armed robbery convictions, Gussett is prevented from owning and/or possessing a firearm.
