WALKER, LA — Detectives with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office were asked to investigate a cruelty case involving a 71-year old female victim who resides in Walker.
The investigation revealed that during August 1, 2013 to October 16, 2013, Christopher Gregus, a relative of the victim, did physically harm her, threaten her, make several withdrawls from her account in excess of $1500 without permission and did take her prescription medication without permission.
These incidents occurred after the victim’s caretaker – her daughter – died. Gregus was married to the victim’s daughter. He became the primary care giver.
Gregus was arrested on October 17 and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center.
Christopher Gregus, 45, of Walker has been charged with Simple Battery of the Infirm, Cruelty to the Infirmed, Exploitation of the Infirmed, and Theft of Medication.
He remains in the Livingston Parish Detention Center
The investigation also revealed Gregus is a Canadian citizen. He is in this country illegally. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (or ICE) has placed a ‘hold’ on Gregus at this time.
