BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Baton Rouge has some of the healthiest eyes in the country for children, according to a new study by VSP Vision Care.
The report also shows one in four children has an undetected vision problem that can interfere with learning, in Baton Rouge, parents are combating that statistic.
Eye doctor Elmo Dean told NBC33, Baton Rouge parents are helping their kids see better by keeping up with eye exams and understanding the importance of eye health.
"Vision Service Plan started a program to see which areas of the country where the children were receiving the best care and more children were being seen, and they started their eye health index and Baton Rouge happened to score in the top ten," Dr. Elmo said.
Other cities that made the list include, Los Angeles, Detroit, and Portland.
