BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Southern Jaguar football team is expecting a huge crowd Saturday for their homecoming game against Alcorn State.
Both the Jags and Braves will face off with big implications on the line.
Southern is currently holding on to a first place lead in the Western Division, while Alcorn is just one game out of first in the East.
Coach Dawson Odums hopes to build off his team’s 29-21 win over Pine Bluff last weekend, which put the team one step closer to playing for a conference title.
The first-year head coach explained the difference in seeing and believing in their goal of being SWAC champs.
"There is a big difference between the two. I see Halle Berry, but there is no sense in believing that I will be with her,” stated Odums. “But this football team is exactly where they need to be and it is exciting.”
Kick off for Saturday's homecoming matchup is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. It will be their last conference home game of the year.
