BATON ROUGE, LA — Hundreds of unemployed veterans today got the chance to show off their skills and see what the Baton Rouge job market has to offer.
The first two hours of the Job Fair at the Crown Plaza were targeted specifically to veterans. Close to 70 companies showed up to recruit employees.
Local veterans were thankful to the city for giving them this opportunity.
"This is an amazing opportunity, and hopefully, these employers will follow through with hiring veterans,” stated veteran Jaye Townsend.
“There are so many veterans out there that nred jobs that might not be able to find work,” agreed vet Rueben Ellis. “This is a good opportunity to get out there."
Many of the employers directed the job seekers - veterans and regular citizens alike - to their websites to apply for jobs; not many were actually ready to hire on the spot.
