OUACHITA PARISH, LA — A man died in a single-vehicle crash in Ouachita Parish, and impairment is suspected.
On October 15, at 4:24 p.m., State Troopers responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on I-20 about 4 miles west of West Monroe.
The preliminary investigation revealed that 1995 Dodge pickup, driven by Bobby Childers, 47, of West Monroe, was traveling west on I-20 when it drove off the left side of the road and into the median. The Dodge then traveled back across both westbound lanes, off the right side of I-20 where it rotated counterclockwise and began overturning.
Childers was properly restrained. Childers suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office.
Alcohol use is suspected. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
