BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — UPDATE: A representative for Chili’s told NBC33 News that the restaurant is closed until further notice.
“We take any feedback from a guest very seriously and are currently investigating the situation internally to determine what, if any, problem there might be. We regret any inconvenience this closing has caused our valued patrons at the location on Constitution Ave., but when isolated incidents like this occur, we voluntarily take swift action.”
We will provide an update when the restaurant reopens on the NBC33 Facebook page .
ORIGINAL: A patron at Chili's on Constitution Avenue tried to celebrate her birthday by eating a steak lunch, but what she alleged she found sitting in her load mashed potatoes left her disgusted. She told NBC33 she found a roach sitting on top her potatoes. She said the manager didn't make her pay for the meal but couldn't explain to her how the roach got there.
She was still in shock after the alleged incident and didn't want us to show her face on camera.
The diner told the station, "I think something like this shouldn't happen at a restaurant. I know it can happen, but it shouldn't. Too many people should see that food before it come so it should not have come out like that."
"My stomach just crawls every time I think about it."
In May, another viewer sent in a photo of a similar alleged incident of bugs in the food at the same Chili's location.
A spokesman for Chili's Grill & Bar released the following statement: "At Chili's Grill & Bar, the health and safety of our guests is always our top priority. We maintain very strict standards of food quality, safety and cleanliness in our restaurants. Upon learning of the first incident earlier this year, we took immediate action to correct the situation, bringing on a third-party vendor partner to conduct an elimination treatment throughout the entire restaurant. We are taking this new allegation from a guest very seriously and currently investigating the situation internally."
