BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — For most of you, going to the doctor likely takes some planning, but what about those days when you wake up not feeling well and cannot get into see your primary-care physician? Well CVS pharmacies has a solution called a Minute Clinic.
"It's all walk-in, no appointment is necessary, and we pride ourselves in providing high-quality, affordable, and convenient care, and the convenient part is what's very attractive to many people," Donna Learned, the state practice manager for CVS Pharmacies.
Sometimes it's hard to see your doctor in such short-notice, that's why CVS Pharmacies has decided to extend their healthcare services here in Louisiana, and now the CVS located in Perkins Rowe is taking part. With there Minute Clinic, you just walk-in, sign-in, see a nurse, and then go on about your day.
"CVS noticed, quite a number of years ago, that there was a gap in healthcare for many individuals, both insured and uninsured," Learned said.
Since CVS launched their clinics in 2005, now there are more than 700 clinics nationwide, and Louisiana is it's newest recipient.
"Most people are very busy. If you wake up in the morning and you are not feeling well, it's very difficult, in many cases, to be able to see your primary care physician," Learned said. "So we're here to take care of those events where you're not able to get in to see your primary care physician ."
"They have a lot of businesses around here, so it adds convenience, which customers can come in get checked out and then go back to work," Chelsea Chevies, who works at CVS said.
Learned said that's their goal.
"Well we're very, very excited to be introducing Minute Clinics to the Louisiana market," Learned said. "We feel like we have a great service for individuals here in Louisiana, and we look forward to serving the people."
"I don't have to no longer go to the Lake or Baton Rouge General or anything like that, and I can get checked out while I'm at work which is nice," Chevies said.
The CVS in Prairieville will be opening it's Minute Clinic at the end of this month.
