ASCENSION PARISH, LA (NBC33) — A former employee with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office is facing additional charges after an investigation was launched due to an inappropriate relationship with a teen.
Todd Tripp, 24, of Gonzales was re-arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 9 and charged with 304 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
Tripp was first arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 10 after detectives learned that he was contacting a 15-year-old via text message. They also learned that Tripp met the teen at a public venue in Baton Rouge.
Once investigators gained enough evidence, they conducted a search of his home and seized all of the electronic devices in his home. Forensic investigators reviewed the devices and found child pornography on his laptops, cell phones and other items seized.
Tripp is currently being held in the Ascension Parish Jail. His bond has been set at $76,000.
Tripp was employed with the Sheriff’s Office for roughly 18 months before he was terminated due to this investigation.
