ASSUMPTION, La (WVLA) More than a dozen Sheriff’s Deputies were stationed at Assumption High School this morning due to a series of threatening Facebook messages posted by a student.
Numerous complaints were filed by the parents of students regarding the racially based threats. Due to the violent nature of the threats, students were searched with metal detectors this morning before being allowed to enter the campus.
Sheriff Mike Waguespack of the Assumption Sheriff’s Office said that the investigation is ongoing and they expect to find the person responsible for the threats. Once identified, the individual could be arrested.
The increased security measure will remain in place until the individual has been identified.
