BAYOU VISTA, La (WVLA) -- A hit and run driver is still on the loose after slamming into two shoppers in a Wal-Mart parking lot Sunday morning.
Surveillance video shows two women attempting to cross the crosswalk when a black 1997 Nissan Maxima comes driving through.
60-year-old Palma Dehart can be seen pushing her daughter, Paula Falzarano, 39, out of the way before the car hits her.
"We start to walk, and all the sudden my mom goes Paula," said Falzarano. "And she turns like this, and she grabs me and she throws me."
The impact sent Dehart flying through the air onto the hot pavement head first. Shoppers circled around, but Falzarano says, the driver didn't get out.
"I said you better stop," she said. "So I'm standing in front of his car and he stops."
Seconds later, Falzarano says, the driver took off, but not before hitting another woman who was trying to pick up Falzarano's purse.
Witnesses were able to give police a description of the car and the license plate number. Detectives found the car abandoned in Raceland, which was reported stolen. Dehart remains in the hospital with serious injuries, but no broken bones.
"She's talking, but she's having nightmares," says Dehart's daughter-in-law Diawn Dupuy. "Like everytime she closes her eyes, she wakes up screaming because she's thinking a car's gonna hit her."
Call the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office at 985-384-1622 if you have any information on the driver.
