TANGIPAHOA PARISH, LA (NBC33) — A man was shot by an undercover narcotics agent when he allegedly attempted to rob the man at gunpoint.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident occurred on Friday, Oct. 4 at roughly 1:30 p.m. We’re told the agent was in the process of conducting an undercover investigation when he was approached by the suspect.
Officials say the suspect pulled out a gun and attempted to rob the agent. However, the two became involved in a struggle over the weapon. The agent pulled out a gun and the two exchanged gunfire.
The suspect was struck several times, but all were non-lethal injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The agent, however, only sustained a minor laceration to his hand.
Both are expected to make full recoveries.
The Louisiana State Police has been notified and will conduct an investigation, which is standard procedure.
