BATON ROUGE, LA — The Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA) Greater Baton Rouge Chapter is hosting its 11th Annual Silent Auction Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the Renaissance Hotel in Baton Rouge. A VIP Preview Party will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the hotel’s restaurant, Tallulah, and general admission is welcome at 6:30 p.m.
The event supports the LRA Greater Baton Rouge Chapter’s annual fundraising goal for the LRA Education Foundation, which administers ProStart®, a two-year culinary arts and restaurant management course, in 46 high schools across Louisiana. ProStart is offered in 10 Baton Rouge-area high schools and is designed to attract young people to rewarding careers in the restaurant and hospitality industries.
“The Silent Auction benefits the LRA Education Foundation, which is doing fantastic work through its statewide ProStart program,” said LRA Greater Baton Rouge Chapter President Ryan Nizzo. “This is one of two fundraisers our chapter hosts annually to support our charitable foundation.”
For the second year, the event will feature celebrity servers: Todd Graves, Founder, Chair & CEO of Raising Cane’s; Matt Saurage, Chairman of the Board of Community Coffee; and Brandon Landry and Jack Warner, Co-Founders of Walk On’s Bistreaux & Bar.
Guests will have the opportunity to vote for the night’s Top Tailgating Chef after tasting cuisine from:
· Bistro Byronz
· Don’s Seafood Hut
· L’Auberge Baton Rouge
· Le Creole
· Little Village
· Mestizo Restaurant
· Ruffino’s Restaurant
· Stab’s Steak & Seafood
· Walk On’s Bistreaux & Bar
“With the excitement in the Capitol Region surrounding LSU Football, it was a natural progression to award this unique new title to one of our participating restaurants,” said Nizzo.
The Silent Auction items for bid are generously donated by local restaurants, spas, hotels and businesses. Items include: a home crawfish or shrimp boil for 20 donated by Don’s Seafood Hut in Gonzales; a progressive wine dinner for 8 or 10 with stops at Ruffino’s, Juban’s and Beausoleil, including transportation; a private dinner for 10 at Eighteen Steakhouse at L’Auberge Baton Rouge; LSU Baseball suite tickets; artwork; wine baskets; tailgating gear and much more.
Admission is $50 per person for general admission. To enter the event an hour early and get a first look at the auction items, VIP tickets are being sold for $70. For more information, call Courtney Waguespack at (225) 328-2163 or e-mail email@example.com .
