SORRENTO, LA — On Sunday, September 15, deputies were dispatched to a home on Braud Street in Sorrento to assist police with a domestic disturbance, according to Chief Tony Bacala.
Upon deputies arrival they encountered a subject who was barricaded in the residence armed with a semi-automatic handgun. Deputies later learned that the subject was identified as Wesley Bowden, 33, of Sorrento. Deputies surrounded the perimeter while Bowden made several threats that including shooting deputies who came near the residence.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Team was sent to the scene and a short while later they deployed gas into the residence. It was then that Bowden exited the residence and was placed under arrest.
Bowden was charged with Resisting an Officer, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (5 counts), and a Fugitive warrant from another agency. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail Sunday evening.
