BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Louisiana honored several sheriff's deputies killed in the line of duty.
Law enforcement, families and friends gathered today to honor four fallen deputies.
It was an emotional day, especially for the widow of Deputy Ricky Issac Jr. from Natchitoches, who gave birth to their son only a few months after her husband's death.
The ceremony is part of a big week for remembering first responders across the country.
“Having the 9/11 memorials yesterday throughout Louisiana, and the next day celebrating and memorializing today, it speaks to reflection and us never forgetting," stated Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley.
The other three deputies honored were Deputy Randall Benoit from Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, and Deputy Brandon Nielsen and Deputy Jeremy Triche from St. John the Baptist Parish.
