HAMMOND, LA (NBC33) — A convicted felon was arrested after he fired a gun in the air during an argument with his neighbor. A 19-year-old with outstanding warrants was also arrested after he was believed to be in possession of the gun used during the altercation.
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident happened on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at a home located on Morris Road in Hammond. Deputies responded to a call of shots fired.
When deputies arrived they learned that the suspect, Joseph Hall, 34, was involved in a dispute with his neighbor. At some point Hall pulled out a gun and fired one shot in the air. He then verbally threatened his neighbor.
Hall admitted to firing the gun and told deputies that he got rid of the weapon. He was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Convicted Felon in Possession of Firearm and Illegal Discharge of a Weapon.
During the investigation it was learned that Hall may have handed the weapon to Troy Green. While attempting to locate Green, deputies learned he was wanted on several outstanding warrants that include Criminal Trespass, Burglary and one Failure to Appear warrant.
Green was located and arrested without incident.
