BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The man accused of raping multiple women while serving as the captain of a neighborhood watch group will be extradited back to Dallas, TX, officials confirmed.
District Attorney Hillar More told NBC33 News that Van Dralan Dixson, 38, signed extradition papers on Thursday, Sept. 12. He will be transported back to Dallas to face charges.
Dixson was arrested in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, Sept. 10 after investigators received a tip that he was staying at a motel located on Florida Blvd. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison as a fugitive from justice and his bond was set at $5 million.
Officials with the Dallas Police Department connected Dixson to at least four rape cases through DNA evidence. They say he is possibly connected to five additional cases that occurred in the Fair Park neighborhood. Investigators are currently waiting for the return of DNA evidence in those cases.
During the time when the rapes occurred, Dixson served as a volunteer with the Fair Park neighborhood’s crime watch program. He was appointed as the captain for the group in January 2013.
"It's time to draw the line against crime. Let's clean up all the trash and make Mill City look like a neighborhood that we can all be proud to call our own," Dixson wrote in an August newsletter released by the Mill City Community Association.
According to reports, Dixson has an extensive criminal record that includes past charges for Aggravated Robbery, Evading Arrest and Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Sexual Assault and making a Terroristic Threat.
